Data Transfer & Storage Policy

Keeping our customers data safe is our number one priority.

This document details Relative Insight’s policy around data transfer and storage

Data Encryption

Relative Insight encrypts all data at rest using AES-256 encryption.  AES-256 is approved for use by the U.S. government for encrypting classified information. Secure encryption key management is achieved using the Amazon Key Management Service which maintains the keys in a separate space from the platform, thus ensuring that the keys are not readily available from the platform itself.

Data being sent and received is encrypted using HTTPS and Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.2 and 1.3). It provides end-to-end encryption of data sent over the internet, preventing malicious actors from intercepting, and reading sensitive information.

TLS works by creating a secure connection between two devices by using encryption and authentication protocols. When a user sends data over the internet, TLS encrypts it using a public key from the receiving device. Only the receiving device can decrypt the data using its private key. This ensures that any data intercepted by a third party is unreadable. Additionally, TLS also provides authentication by verifying the identity of the receiving device.

Data Retention

Relative Insight only keeps your data for as long as it is needed for processing or as long as you request us to keep it.
Your original data set you upload to the Relative Insight platform for processing is stored for 7 days and then automatically deleted.
We will keep the language models and insights generated from your data for six months after your last access or after the termination of your subscription – they are automatically removed after this period. We will also delete this data earlier upon request from the customer.

Data Backup

Relative Insight backs up its data repositories on a daily basis to separately located cloud instances.
Backups are automatically validated, and regular tests are performed to ensure that are operating correctly as part of our Business Continuity Plan.
